This book will help you take a step back before you embark on your journey by highlighting the importance of understanding exactly what you're getting yourself into, both contractually with your employer, as well as with the government and medical system you'll be working under. If you plan to work in Korea, G. James has listed a lot of resources you need to be aware of. If you'll be working elsewhere, this is still extremely valuable because you'll get a feel for what sorts of organizations should be available, which will make it much easier to find them when you need them. Contracts Teaching English Abroad eBook G James Reviews

This a compact, easy, and informative read. It felt like a really informed friend guiding me in the right directions- and I now know a lot of things to be on the lookout for that I haven't been informed of from any other source. G. James isn't afraid of the nitty gritty, it seems, and though I've done a lot of online research about teaching in Korea, this is the most honest and straightforward resource I've come across. The sample contracts where an awesome addition. Anyone coming to Korea to teach English should read this book!
When I was looking for jobs in Korea, veteran expats always told me one thing "Let me see your contract before you sign." If you're thinking about teaching in Korea (or anywhere abroad, really), this book will help you make the most important decision you have to make before you come choosing a fair and decent contract. It explains how to recognize good working conditions in SK, how the hagwon system works, what your rights are, and what to do when things go wrong (as they are likely to at least once). This book is a must-read for prospective esl teachers!
